Workout :: Pool Closed (AGAIN)

Well headed up the mountain for a workout and some swimming but again the pool was shutdown. They should refund me some money every time I’m there and the pool is closed because it’s far to often. Anyhow I got an awesome workout in and even did some light skipping to work on the ankle. I had an amazing workout starting with wide grip chins. Then hit the shoulders with some shoulder presses and this was my heaviest to date doing 140lbs for some serious reps. After that did some seated lateral raises. Tricepts were next doing cable pressdowns. After that I did seated row and headed in to the cardio room for an intense ab workout. Did toe catches with dumbell curls and skipping in supersets. Did elbow to knees, planks on ball more skipping. Was a great start to the ab workout. After the abs did more arms, some pushups, roman chair, dips, tricept machine, preacher curls. Was a great workout. Beautiful day~

Workout :: Physio Pool

pool_couldlookbetterWell went for a workout and a physio session in the pool. I know what I need to do and that is keep my range of motion and not imobilize it while it heals. Trick is to try and limit the chance of continuing to injure it and to keep the swelling down. Well the pool water wasn’t very warm so that will help keep the swelling down… Anyhow started with the workout doing shoulders (shoulder press and seated laster raises), arms (cable pressdowns, dumbell curls, preacher curls), abs (hanging leg raises and toe catches) and some wide grip chins. After the workout headed into the pool for some lengths and to walk around in side the pool. Did front crawl and breast stroke trying to use my affected leg and ankle with out putting to much pressure on it with the kicking motion. Was great and I do feel much better than I did before going into the pool. I have to add the pool there is not to bad some days and other it’s beyond disgusting. Today it was pretty cloudy which indicates it will probably be closed down again and I hate when that happens.

Workout :: BUM ANKLE

Well I was offered a cast or no cast at the ortho clinic today. Opted for no cast and headed to the gym to try and do some workout (all sitting) and also a bit of pool work. It was great being able to get my but out and do some activity. I did wide grip chins, hanging leg raises, shoulder press, seated lateral raises, cable pressdown (rope), preacher curls, seated dumbell curls, incline press, toe catches, pushups, elbow to knee crunches. After hit the pool and did some lenghts driving with the good leg and managed to do some walking in the deep end as most of the weight is suppored by water. In the shallow end a bit more difficult.

Workout :: LUNCH

Well headed to the Mountain gym today for my workout. I like the facilities more and figured it’s an extra 4 minutes each way why not? I can get a workout in faster as there is more equipment and not a huge difference in amount of people during lunch. Anyhow I went to do legs and chest and just get it done as fast as possible again using supersets. Started with leg curl with wide grip chins as my superset. After that it was time for calf raises with skipping. I followed that up with incline press using the hammersmith machine and overhead press to rest bar on shoulders and do squats. That was killer because I took no break during my three sets. After these I went and did a superset of hanging leg raises (in the roman chair), dips and back extensions. The last workout ended up being the seated row. Great workout and the entire thing took 40 minutes.

Workout :: time to kill

Well I had a bit of time to kill this evening after having to drop girls off early to go in search of my wallet. Good thing it was a home. I remembered using it at grocery store’s self checkout and was so worried I left it there. Anyhow took girls to petstore where they got to play with a puppy. After that went for a workout and did a really good hard intense fast workout. Probably took me about 35-40 minutes but in that time managed to do the following. Superset consisting of overhead barbell press which is great for shoulders, back, chest, ballance and core. The overhead press was put to a superset with toe catches for lower abs and skipping. After that I headed over to the rack for cross cable workout supersetted with wide grip chins and hanging leg raises. I got some skipping in there to cool down but keep my heart rate up. After those I did cable curls with supreset of side planks for a minute per side. More arm workout followed doing superset of dips, reverse cable pressdown and elbow to knee crunches. I did managed to get more skipping in there the whole time so by the end of this workout I was well worn out. This also all helped the recovery of my legs following the 8 mile lunch run. Great workout day!

Workout :: Back to School

scrawny(1)Well on the days that I’m in Toronto I’ve been trying to get my workout in at lunch in the school gym. In the spring, summer and autumn I run outside when in Toronto but winter is strictly gym here and running back home. Anyhow I headed to the gym with the mindset to get as intense a workout as possible in 50 minutes and it’s pretty incredible how much on can do when it’s all supersets and includes skipping between many of the sets. Anhow workout in this order was wide grip chins  with skipping between each set. That was followed by superset of toe cathes, shoulder presses and skipping. After that I did seated lateral raises with superset of elbow to knee crunches with skipping between the crunch sets. That was followed up by hanging leg raises and dumbell curls.  Next was preacher curls and skipping. Last superset was dips and incline crunches. Finished off the workout with tricept cable pressdowns. Not a bad workout at all for 50 minute lunch hour. Worked up a great sweat and then devoured my roast beef and tomatoe sandwich.

Workout :: Have to do it

Well figured I’d better get my butt into the gym this morning. I went straight into the cardio studio to begin my workout with abs today. I started with superset of toe catches and skipping for 4 sets. Then began with elbow to knee crunches with supersets of skipping and lunges with 50lbs across the studio and back. After that did plank with toes on ball with skipping. Lastly in cardio studio was crinches knees at 90degrees with skiping between sets. After that headed to the shoulder press and did that with superset of hanging leg raises for 40 sets and up to 120lbs shoulder presses. Following the shoulder press did lateral raises. After shoulders it was time for arms with cable press down with more hanging leg raises. After that did roper overhead for tricepts then dumbell curls and dips. Was a great workout and now just burnt. Good fresh roast beef sandwitch after the workout.

Workout :: YORK then Trivia

Well headed to the York Street gym tonight for a quick workout before my date. To put a plug in for the place it was Collin’s Brewhouse and on Tuesday nights it’s Trivia night. Nadia and I were the only members of our team so we didn’t fare so well compared to other but most are teams of 6, 8 even 10. Was awesome experience and a great time. I had Brewhouse Red which was a great beer with Nachos, here is the menu if you are curious. Anyhow for anybody into Trivia I would definatly recomment this place. Couple of the questions I remember, in Las Vegas Casino’s the black chip is worth how much? What year did Queen Elizabeth the II become Queen? Anyhow great night.
Workout was great as I did back, abs, arms and shoulders.

Workout :: School

Always a bit difficult working out in a new place. Many people at work use the gym at the board office since we are connected to the High School we can use their weight room. It was a bit difficult getting used to the environment but I did and had a great workout. Anyhow did quick chest workout with lying on the bench and dumbell behind head. For the abs I tyried an ab wheel, man that was crazy workout. Also did crunches knees bent 90degrees, hanging leg raises. For shoulders and arms did shoulder press, dumbell curls, rope pressdown, cable curl straight bar. Was a great workout, looking forward to my run in Fergus tonight with Paul.

Workout :: intense

Well after my run this afternoon I figured I’d hid the gym this evening. Went a bit to early, should have waited 30 more minutes and it would have been less busy. So I had to modify the workout a bit as there were just to many people. Anyhow did some dumbell bench presses, skipping, overhead barbell presses, toe catches, hanging leg raises, cable curls, kettle ball squat overhead, skipping, plank with feet on ball and the tricep machine. Most workouts included skipping between sets and some ab exercise. Anyhow was exhausted after.
