Hop N POP

Well did a Cessna load with Eric and Mario. I had it in my head that my exit was going to suck and think negative thoughts, you get negative results. I started to turn on my exit so deployed while I still had some stability. I had lots of time, what I should have done was gotten stable again first and then thrown pilot. I looked at altimiter after deployment and I was still at 4000′. Have to do a few more of those. Landing was good, maybe 40-50′ from the peas.

Skydiving :: Great jump and good landing Otter Load 1

Well crashed at the drop zone by the fire under the stars and it was awesome. Didn’t get much sleep as it was late when I crashed but awesome sleep under the stars with my army cott regardless. I was up around 5am to move some firewood around and keep the fire going so I could stay warm and it was perfect. Had lots of PC Honey Red sleeping liquid hahahha. Had a great night with his friends at the DZ. Woke up nice and early and got a warm shower in next to Andrea and good thing I didn’t reach to far to pick up the shampoo I dropped. Anyhow managed to get on Otter load on and have a great skydive. Bit of cloud action. Still need to work on flying my canopy right through the landing. Anyhow was a great day, clouds and wind came in so I left early to go home and make my Butter Chicken and some rice. Was very tasty and now just wathing some old movies.

Running log :: Skydive log :: Pot Pourri

Well my pot pourri de jour was a mix of far to many things in one day. Where to start. First a lonely person bugged me into taking them with me to the DZ…. So anyhow she has now earned the name “C’mon Ali”.  I invited her along against my better judgement. In the end we had a great day! Anyhow got to the DZ and there were some serious gusts but I managed to get up there before the wind really picked up. The sit exit was great, freefall through the clouds was awesome the landing required more sentences. So setup for the landing was tricky as I’m now jumping the 190 and not 100% familiar with it yer and the wind had picked up. Wind was coming from south west on my landing but moving around quite abit. I was over the runway with little penetration but managed to get away from it near the pond. I later learned after discussing the flare with Dale that I should have given more to the left side to counter the crosswind. I was a bit high on my flare and felt the wing go to the right, I was smart enough to not reach for the ground with right arm but counter with the left toggle and saved my ass. Great learning experiences on that jump and in lower wind might try to land a bit cross. So onto the run, the run was hell! My calves are killing me and there is some obvious stress on the right leg. I’m going to have to take some time off and require serious recovery. Need the gym, elliptical, protein shakes and hopefuly no more than a week. Lots of ice, advil and warm epsom salt baths. Anyhow did 5.75 miles along the lake in 43:00 min for an average pace of 7:28 minute miles. After then run headed to my second cousins Helen’s cottage for a few beers. Was great saw some old friends, made some new ones and we had a great time eating cheese and crackers. Always a pleasure going down there. Was a great day and thanks to Mary and Gary for making Ali feel welcomed.

Running Log :: Canada day and Skydive

Well what a Canada day, seem to have done it all. Started out waking up on a couch in the clubhouse at the DZ (Drop Zone). No blankes, no pillow and the couch smelled very used, YIKES! Dragged my slightly hung over ass off the couch and into some running gear for a 6 mile run. Ran down to Morgans Point right to the water and back to the DZ and past as I had to reach 6 miles so spent a bit of it on the Friendship Trail. The run started out very rough, everything hurt. I later learned it was only supposed to be 5 miles and I did six. That was like yesterday with my 6 mile run that should have been 3. I’ll have to put my stats in later, don’t have the GPS on me at time of writing. Then managed to get up on an Otter load for a great skydive and I downsized the canopy to a 190. Was a great jump, but lots of traffic on the faster rig. Near Mario and I’m sure my relative newness to the sport scared the crap out of him due to our proximity. Anyhow great landing, stood it up and the conopy comes in much faster than I’ve been used to. Second jump was with Andrea, coach jump. Great jump, back loop, front loop, barrel roll and all were on heading. Good landing which I stood up. Very pleased with the jump and thank you very much Andrea. Made way to Niagara on the Lake on the way home to see what was going on for Canada day and had a great couple beers on a nice patio. All in all perfect Canada day, looking forward to next years.

Skydive in shorts

Well got myself down to the Drop Zone with the girls (all minus Sydney). We had a great afternoon and I got a jump in. Went up in my shorts and a t-shirt and had an awesome jump. Did front and back loop, could 360 turns and the rest just fell stable on heading and had a great jump. Opened at 4000′ and just loved it. My landing was right in the pea! Loving it. After went for a Corona at Helens cottage. Now just getting ready to make some smores camping at Dad’s with the girls.

Skydiving :: Cessna Load one

Well got on the first load today of the new skydive season. Up to 10,500 and tried to hang off the wing, didn’t last long and the photo didn’t take. Winds were strong but I was excited once it was get up and go. I was last one out (of three jumpers) and had a great jump. I managed to get into sitfly three times in the jump and hold it mind you no video I know Mario… Anyhow was a great day for it and happy to have landed at the DZ.

Wind Tunnel and last days at Z-hills

Well the skydiving is over. I’m sitting in a hotel room in Kissemee at the moment and it’s 78 outside so I’m going by the pool shortly. Just iced the foot from the one hard landing. Today did a 2 way with a coach on my last jump and it was awesome. Can’t wait for spring so I can get back to jumping. Anyhow here are some more photos.
