Running Log :: bloody hell

Well my road to Boston just got a bit longer yesterday. Ended up rolling the ankle and tearing all the important things in the ankle. Be off running for at least a month but we’ll get there. I had some great help from two good Samaritans who were kind enough to stop at the side of road and take me home for wallet and emerg. Then a beautiful woman came to meet me at the hospital and turn what could have been a crappy day into a great date, thanks Annie! One day at a time is all you can do… Was a beautiful day though, awesome day for a run.  I have to say I was starting to loose my faith in people when cars kept passing by seeing me rolling on the ground including an empty taxi and nobody stopped till about 5 minutes later like I said, two women stopped and helped me out. Happy 40th birthday Kim (the driver who stopped)…

Running :: F%#$

Well I should never have gone for a run the day after my first true leg workout in many months. This was such a difficult run and I was surprised to have lasted 5 miles. Anyhow I got some running in and tonight I’ll require some serious theraputic tub with the jets cranked to full blast. I did the 5 miles in 43:43 for an average pace of 8:45 minute mile. I did walk about 2 minutes in that run also. Absolutly brutal… Was happy to get back to work let me tell you.

Running Log :: Frostbitten Johnson

Well I started my run from the office today instead of driving to the base of the Chedoke Trail. This gave me an extra 2 miles. I did not get the support I should have picked up nor did I have a pair of longjohnes on. The running pants I was wearing were a bit to thin and on the up portion of my run I could really feel the wind on my appendage and by the time I got to the top it was very very cold. I’m sure I’ll pay for that later! Anyhow I did an out and back and on the way back I really picked up some speed managing to run one of my miles in 6:37. I was really breathing after that mile but managed to keep the proceding two miles under 8 min miles. Was a great run and now absolutly bagged! Anyhow stats are 8 miles in 1:03.

Running Log :: Fergus to Elora

Well went out for a run with Paul to work off all the beer and pizza we consumed last night. We headed for a run and eventually I hear Paul say that Elora is just down the road from where we were so said well lets run there. Was an awesome run and the pictures say it all. It was around 13Km and well over an hour but stopped to take lots of pictures along the way.

Running Log :: Chedoke

Well went for a run on the Chedoke trail today in the Snow.  There was quite a bit of accumulation so made for an interesting run. Anyhow just did an up and back to the 2 mile marker and layed up just a bit early to walk back and let my legs loosen up. Tomorrow will be a rest day. Anyhow did 3.79 miles in 38:45 for an average pace of 10:13 but I did walk at the top for a few minutes which is what scewed the results. Anyhow very beautiful run.

Running Log :: Off the beaten path

Well I got off the beaten path onto an different beaten path. I always run the same trail up and never get off the trail to get into the more woods/brush portion of the Chedoke trail. But today I decided what the hell. What a great run, it added a quarter mile buy getting off but was also much more of a challenge. Got back to work only to realize there was some left over catered lunch from some meetings, snatched up a bit of that… So the stats are 6.29 miles in 51:29 for an average pace of 8:14 minute miles. I lost some speed in the woods as there were lots of roots and logs to maneuver around.

Running Log :: Montréal in Feb

Only -6 today in Montréal and the sun is just shining. I didn’t even wear a coat, just two technical long sleves with a technical T. Great run. Loved it… Took some nice pictures in the sunshine. The pace isn’t high as I stopped so many times to get some pics. Anyhow tomorrow Snowboarding WOOHOO. On my drive to Montréal last night I noticed something on my taillight that my girls had done, what a huge smile that gave me…

Running Log :: Chedoke

Well great weather for the run today, if there was a wind it wasn’t felt. i was wearing a couple technical long sleeves and a technical short sleve, shorts with long johns underneath. Prefect! Did the Chedoke Tail again today after last nights supper, beer and wine. What a great run. Legs felt great the entire run and finished it in  49:00 for an average pace of 8:10 min mile. At one point in the run I was maintaining around 6:30 minute miles and kept it up for almost a half a mile arriving at mile 4.

Running Log :: Chedoke – not so cold

Well I was deciding between indoor or outdoor run and it was so sunny out that I required some Vitamin D and a bit of thinking time. It’s incredible how one run outside in the sun regardless of the temperature can totally change ones mood. Admitting that I really wasn’t in a great mood feeling a bit of self pitty and lonliness this was just the trick. I’m back at work and feel like a million dollars. Anyhow I went for a 6 mile run in 49:59 for an average pace of 8:20 minute miles. Just after mile 5 I walked for one minute which explains the 8:40 minute mile there. Also this run provides a 401′ elevation gain. Anyhow the states are available in the images.

Running Log :: Crazy Canadians

People have serious problems in the country when it comes to ice. What the hell are people doing out on the ice when you can see the water all around. I saw ice fishers but the seemed a bit more prepared than the adult who had a bunch of kids all out on the ice skating and there are visible openings on the ice. Check out my pictures and you can see all the open water and there is one adult and a bunch of kids all skating around in very deep waters far from shore. I don’t get it! Anyhow had a great run and took frequent breaks to take pictures along the way because last time I didn’t bring it and there was some good scenery. One thing I forgot to photograph was the trail I ran through about half way into my run. Anyhow great run and I just loved it.
