Ok today was bottling day and the new brew is more potent then the last. Paul and I are a bit drunk as I’m writing this. The new batch is amazing but I’m sure the alcohol content is much higher, I mean MUCH HIGHER! Anyhow tonight was fresh pesto pizza night and beer. The bottling went well, the girls were very good! I ended up with 25.5 liters. Is there any left?

Running Log :: 5 sore miles — AWESOME
Well went for my run tonight as the weather was amazing. It was 12 degrees when I headed out, the hotest point in the day. I was determined to at least get 4 miles in. It’s been 4.5 weeks since fracturing the ankle and it’s time to start to work it out a bit more. The elliptical yesterday really helped. Anyhow I managed to get 5 miles in today in 38:43 and you can take almost a minute off that as I was really stuck at a couple of lights. Anyhow average pace was 7:44 not counting the stops. Very pleased with the results.
Workout :: MDC
Well figured I’d get my workout in today during my lunch at the high school. Didn’t want to punish the ankle more than it needed after yesterdays run on the treadmill so did some ellipitcal after my workout. I did a 20 min elliptical session and that was great. As for the workout I did some abs, heavy back and solid leg workout. I havn’t done legs in a some time also because of the ankle but it felt great. Have to reintroduce legs 2X week.
Workout :: YMCA Rockland
Well I went for a workout at the YMCA/YWCA in Rockland, Ontario while I was with the kids visiting Vicky. Was a great weekend for the kids and a birthday party in the pool. Before heading back I decided to go back to the Y for a workout and a boot camp. The boot camp instructor was unable to make it (wife in labour is a good excuse). So did a 3 mile run on the treadmill in 24 minutes and a solid workout after. I love the facility and there weren’t to many people even though the boot camp was cancled. Most use the machines so the free weight section was free. Did a back, chest and arms workout. Oh yes and abs. Great workout and the drive home was good.
Workout :: Hard core
Well if there is one thing the York Street Gym (Premier) is infamous for is it’s lack of dumbells… Couldn’t find 50lbs dumbells so upgraded to 55lbs for my incline press and I did it… I think I could have handled 60 and maybe 65 with a spot. I’ll have to find someone to come spot me. I was in a crap mood when I got there as I had planned to run but it started raining and my garmin was dead as I must have left it on.
Anyhow had a great workout, did back (wide grip chins), chest (cross cable and incline bench press), abs (hanging leg raises, toe catches and elbow to knee crunches), shoulders and more chest with overhead dumbell presses. Tricepts were seated cable pressdowns and reverse one arm cable pressdowns. Threw some skipping in my sets to keep the cardio level up through the workout. Was a great workout and always a great way to split up the day.
Wine :: Jackson-Triggs Esprit
Well my review of this wine was actually going to be a good one. I loved the bouquet (not good at telling you oak and pinapple and etc. etc. etc.) but it does have a nice aroma, the tast was good with no after taste. I’ve shared a few bottle of this with Anne and she also loves it and have read a review and well it wasn’t that kind.
As for information about the wine itself there is a great article commenting on the fact that the wine is missing VQA and is to promote the Olympics on Canadian soil in British Columbia (great wineries in BC). There was a follow up response written to the article located here.
Now Jackson-Triggs states that they have VQA-Esprit in Niagara and Okanagan so I think I might have to make a little run down to NOTL to procure one of these bottles.
Running Log :: Beautiful Day.
Went for a run during my lunch break and it went great. What a beautiful day out. Did a 3.5 mile run as that is all the ankle could bear today. I was hoping for a 5 mile run but that was to ambitious and would have left me needing more rest over a few days. Just have to try and get out every day with lots of ice after my runs. Anyhow did 3.5 miles in 27:27 for an average pace of 7:48 minute miles. My max speed was 6:18 minute mile but I’m sure that was comming down the hill around the hospital. Was a great area to run in. For recovery to be effective the running has to be fun so I’ll discover as many new routes as possible.
Workout :: killah arms
Well great workout today on the arms. Did my arms and a bit of abs with some cardio (skipping) thrown in. Did incline dumbbell curls, preacher one arm dumbbell curls, tricep overhead dumbbell presses, dips and reverse press-down with the cable and d-handle. Was a great workout!
Workout :: High School Musical
Well the high school that my Toronto office is in got some new equipment for the workout room and it is great stuff. Had a great back, chest shoulders and ab workout today. Was working out well and the one phys-ed teacher came in to do his workout part way through mine and threw his USB key into the stereo and cranked up the Marilyn Manson, that is a true high school musical. Anyhow he showed me some new exercises with the BOSU ball. For shoulders I did shoulder presses and am getting pretty heavy with the dumbbells and some seated lateral raises. I have to get one of these, man what a workout. Between that and the new lat machines I felt super worked out. I’m back tomorrow so will do arms and some abs again.
Running log :: better with you
Well went for a great run this morning with a sexy running partner. Oh how much better running through recover is when you have someone sexy to run with. I had a great run this morning, it might have been cloudy but it sure felt sunny… Anyhow did a nice 3 mile run sticking to the same route as yesterday through Gage Park and the time was perfect. Ankle still pretty swollen so lots of ice and Advil after. Anyhow stats, did 3 miles in 27:24 for an average pace of 9:08 minute miles. I don’t think my ankle would have been better off with faster pace, yesterday was pretty swollen after.
