Well MJ came down for a visit at the end of her holidays so figured we’d head out for a run. Pretty cool to have managed to have stayed friends. Well i was only supposed to run 3 miles today as I’m in my recovery week but after my failed long run I figured I’d just tack on a few extra mile and MJ needs to run 55 min for her Montreal Marathon Training so what the hell. I led her up the Chedoke Trail. Was supposed to be a relaxing easy pace (for me anyhow) so up we went. We kept a great pace and I think I put her through the ringer, did just over 7 miles (7.1 to be exact) in 55 minutes for an average pace of 7:45 minute miles. I was able to carry on a conversation at that pace which really surprised me. Last year at this time anything under 8 minute miles and I was grateful. Boston just seems closer and closer! Like they say in Happy Gilmore “YOU CAN DO IT!” I ran 111 miles this month (178km). Very happy with that as I’m holding up pretty well!

Running Log :: Marie-Josée
Running Log :: started out ok
Well the run started out great but it quickly went down hill (no pun intended). I decided to head out on the Brantford trail. I had gotten the girls home and stayed for supper which became one of the many mistakes about this run. I had way to much lasagna and bread and was running immediatly after, not a good combination and already learned this lesson. I turned my GPS off after 9.68 miles of a 12 mile run as I walked the rest of the way back to the car. The first 6 miles were awesome, all uphill and did that in 45:11 for an average pace of 7:30 minute miles. It was when I turned around it started to go wrong. I just couldn’t cool down, couldn’t get my breath and my legs felt like lead. The food was trying to come up and it felt like my days with a hiatus hernia. Groin was hurting, just everything. I would run another two miles ok and then the rest was walk run to the the point where I stopped the GPS. Mile 7 was reached by 53:06 for average pace of 7:35 min miles. Got to 8 miles in 1:00:28 which took me 7:22 for that mile. The next mile would take me almost 9 minutes and I turned it off shortly there after. I tried to run again a few times but the legs where just tightning up and then the thunderstorm started, walking back in a downpour. Go figure. Anyhow it all went wrong and I just figured there are so many weeks left, not worth getting hurt. So the entire run portion of my run walk 12 miles took 1:19:58 for 9.68 miles giving me an average pace of 8:15 min miles.
Skydive in shorts
Well got myself down to the Drop Zone with the girls (all minus Sydney). We had a great afternoon and I got a jump in. Went up in my shorts and a t-shirt and had an awesome jump. Did front and back loop, could 360 turns and the rest just fell stable on heading and had a great jump. Opened at 4000′ and just loved it. My landing was right in the pea! Loving it. After went for a Corona at Helens cottage. Now just getting ready to make some smores camping at Dad’s with the girls.
Running Log :: 7:38
Well my legs were very heavy today for my run. I dragged myself out there early after my upstairs neighbor kept me up half the bloody night again. That’s ok I threw a medicine ball at my ceiling this morning to wake him up hahahhaha. Anyhow ran the Chedoke Trail up to the top, 6 miles in 45:50 for an average pace of 7:38 minute miles. Legs felt good after, iced, advil and all is good.
Michael Jackson dies and almost takes internet with him

Well I was reading a great article on how MJ’s death impacted the internet. It’s rather incredible. I wish I had video of my cousins and I dancing and imitating MJ when we were young. My sister and I going to work with our mother next to a video store and the lady at the video store letting us watch the Thriller video over and over and over again, day in and day out. I grew up with the singer but with that said I don’t understand how the mystique stayed alive, how people are “missing” him so much after all the controvresy, the bizarness, the stories. Well with that said I’m more facinated by the fact he died on my fathers birthday, that Farrah died on same day and and for a few minutes it was all the news. Well all the news till this came out! I’m more facinated by the internet aspect of it, how so many sites were almost rendered useless from everyone jumping on the internet to hear the news. Well I know where I was June 25th, when they announced it, I was at home, in my one bedroom apartment by myself!

Workout :: dragged my $@@ to the gym
Well when ever I work in Toronto the last thing I want to do when I get home is go to the gym. Those sentiments are exasperated after a run when I get back from Toronto. Tonight I got home, nuked some Buttered Chicken from last night and went for a 3 mile run. Got back from that, was cumfy, couple phone calls etc and figured I had better go. I was contemplating between Corona with Lime or gym. Ok Gym won, yes I’m pathetic. Actually I’m determined to make it to Boston this year. Yes you hear me, I always say it, Boston.. Boston.. Boston… Anyhow went down to the gym and had a great workout. Did chest, back shoulders abs and arms. I’m going to start on legs again next week. Next week is my down week for running so we’ll start back slowly. Don’t want to reagrivate the groin injury. Now it’s time for my book and some Epsom salts.
Running Log :: Nice and easy
The point of todays run was to just get through the miles and recover after. I didn’t want to push it, I’ve been getting many massages to try and get my legs calmed down and also epsom salt baths. Anyhow I really didn’t push it what so ever, a nice little run in the heat along York Blvd. I did the 3 miles in 23:51 for an average pace of 7:57 minute miles. After the run, some stretching, icing and analgesic cream. Have to head to the gym!
Big storm a brewing!
They are calling for some pretty severe storms today in Toronto and surrounding area. I hope the Air Conditioner I put in and didn’t really fasten down that great is still in the windows when I get home, YIKES!
RMT Student, Epsom Salts, Corona and the Reader
Well on the advice of my RMT Student Sarah I took a hot bath with Epsom salts to help get the lactic acid buildup in my legs. I also figured I would add my own spin to it and use Corona with lime to help flush the tissues. As I do not have the ability to sit still I need something to occupy me so I grabed the book I’ve been reading “The Reader”. Ok what is it with me and reading these flick chick books. Don’t know I love it anyhow (thanks Alison). Anyhow great book, good beer and great advice. I got out and my legs felt awesome for first time today. Going for a massage later and will do another bath after. On another note, I brought some fresh bananna bread I baked last night as I was so enraged I needed to unwind and the secretaries called me marrying material… Tonight making more buttered chicken. Anyhow after tonights massage I’ll run another epsoms bath and relax.
