Running Log :: Yonge St.

Well in Toronto today for work and it’s the first time I run while working at the Toronto office. I ran down Yonge between Drewry and Sheppard. It was a good run but the smog at street level leaves a nasty taste in your mouth. Was warm out and there was lots of traffice and pedestrian traffic. Anyhow shins are a bit tight today, might take tomorrow as a layup day and hit the elliptical. Anyhow did the 5Km in 24:35 for an average pace of 7:54 minute miles.

Running Log :: 10km lunch run outside

Well decided to head out for lunch and do a nice lunch run as it’s sunny out. Was quite chilly along the water and I’m glad I grabbed the long sleeves for this run. Anyhow ran through Victoria Park again down to York and York to the stairs taking me along the waterfrong. Made my way past Goerges P. Vanier School up to King St. and back down again along the patch to the stairs, up the stairs which wasn’t easy at this point and then back to the board office. I ran down to Queen Street to make my way back to make sure to stretch this into a 10K run to see what my 10K pace is… This wasn’t race pace, I could have gone a bit after but I’m very please with my time. Anyhow did 10KM in 47:39 for an average pace of 7:40 minute mies. Need to get that down to 7:27 minute miles for an entire marathon for Boston.. Man it seems like such a way to go.

GOALS :: Anyone who knows me

Well it’s goal setting time. There are many more that will be added over the next few months but this is the one that has been with me the longest and the time is approaching. One of my goals has been to see Australia, saw it and it was amazing. I’ve even named my four girls after Australian places. Another was education and I’ve done that a few times (gone back to school) and continue to educate myself.  Well I also took up running and getting in shape and one goal is to get to the Boston Marathon by the time I’m 40. There are two  years left and I’m not far off the qualifying time now. Now is the time to push. I feel great! Anyhow this is my official GOAL ENTRY!!!! THIS YEAR I PUSH!

Cardio :: and new ab exercise

Well went to gym to get a good 30 min cardio session in and a bit of a workout.. Suppliment what I’ll do at home tonight. I’m watching the girls all week so not easy to get to gym, so just do my workouts at lunch and home at night. Anyhow I did the long run on Sunday so today is just a light cardio session and a bit of a workout. The real workout will come tonight after the kiddies are in bed. Anyhow did 30 minutes hard core on the elliptical for 620 calories burned and 3.8 miles for distance. Got the machine to over 100RPM a few times and really had the heart going. I’m going to make some going to Boston Magnets to put on the machines while I workout as motivators…. Everyone who knows me know I’m going to the Boston Marathon before I’m 40! Also did some barbell overhead lunges with 75lbs (3 sets) and tried a new ab exercise, and that even killed…

Chedoke Trail with kiddies

Well mommy is away so have to keep kiddies busy and tire them out… So figured I would take them along the Chedoke trail where I ran the other day. The Chedoke trail is part of the Bruce Trail. It was a great hike but they were extremely tired (physicaly) at the end. The entire walk down and back took approx 2 hours. Anyhow there were lots of pics taken so here are some of them.

Running Log :: 12 miles (19.308 km)

Well set out for a run and really wasn’t sure what my legs were going to be like today. It was quite cool 10C (50F), with a 22km/h wind out of the NE. Along my run heading down Stonechurch near Meadowlands I noticed something crossing the street and it stopped on the other side. As I got closer I realized it was a deer. As I got close I was startled by two more that were only a few feet from me on the left side of me. Made for an interesting start. This was somewhere between miles 3 and 4. As I came around down Mohawk from Meadowlands I decided to take the Chedoke Rail Trail. I have always wanted to try one of Hamiltons many trails but I never want to take a chance not knowing where I’d be and have  to get stuck somewhere and tired. Today might not have been the best day as it look as if it would start raining at any moment. So along the trail I go, I saw some rabbits and many waterfalls (three I think), This trail took me to a great view of West Hamilton and also the downtown core and along the Chedoke Golf course. At the end of the trail is Dundas Street and the bottom of the stairs taking me up to Garth. I started up the stairs and figured I’d run up. THis was after about 7 miles already. Yeah right, half way up I was spent so walked the rest of the stairs. At the top I continued down Fennel all the way to Upper Sherman, up to the path along the Link to upper Wentwoth finishing at Stonechurch for a short walk home. The entire run was 12 miles in 1:44:57 for an average pace of 8:44 minute miles which isin’t bad considering the first two miles had a 9:30 min mile pace. (just a footnote, I did not take the photos! I got them off the net. I will take some next time I run this trail)

Running Log 10k :: along waterfront trail

As you can judge by my smile I went for my first outside lunch run today. I usually go to the gym for my cardio but today was just far to nice. Decided on at least a 10k run. Ran 6.18 miles in 49:59 for an average pace of 8:05 minute miles. It was an awesome run, sun was shining, legs felt great and I didn’t have to much beer at the jays game… Anyhow I’ve tried to map out the trail on my google maps.

Jays game Toronto 5, Texas 2

Well off to the skydome for a great game. Baseball is one of those sports I love going to games but just can’t watch it on Television. So made our way to dome and had some awesome streetmeat. There is nothing like streetmeat before a game. Anyhow still fighting a major head cold and plugged sinuses figured the best way to get rid of that is to load ‘er up with some hot peppres, hot relish and a few spoons of onions. After scorfing ( Yes it’s a word “SLANG:  to eat voraciously“) that streetmeat down proceeded inside. Time for the first helping of 10$ cans of beer, so much for getting drunk hahahah.  Anyhow had a few of the $10 beers and attempted to watch the game. Some great home runs but didn’t catch any balls.  Anyhow glad to have had the experience and always fun catching a game. Had it been today surely the dome would be open. Next time I guess, summer is just starting.

Workout :: sick

I’m really feeling crappy with a cold, headache and heavy lungs. I figured I would try and get a quick workout in to try and make me feel better (sweat it out). Anyhow I’m not sure that really worked. I did almost the entire workout in the studio mixing all exercises up with skipping in the middle. After a good ab with weights and some triceps. I feel better psychologicaly but not physicaly. Very run down!
