Bonne année 2009

Running log :: Last run 2009

Well this was the last run of 2009, what a year! The marathon is in 12 days and I’m pretty excited. The foot isn’t to bad, could be better but it’s not going to stop me at this point. My yearly mileage wasn’t great as it took me months to recover from last years foot injury and I still haven’t recovered 100%. I’m going to have to get that MRI I’ve been putting off when I get back to see just what I’m dealing with. Anyhow todays run was a 4 mile run and again I chose to do it inside. I just don’t need to get hurt (slip on ice) this close to race day. Anyhow I did the run in 35:50 for an average pace of 8:57 minute miles.
My years total was 665 miles (1069 KM). November was the only month I broke 100 miles with 128 run. This year I ran 3 half marathons and a marathon which included the Goofy’s Challenge (1/2 marathon Saturday and full marathon the next day). I am pleased overall with the year but next year will need to be much better. Also the working out is going to have to go up a notch this year. Still hoping to qualify for Boston by 40 so I’ll have to get the foot checked out after the race.

Workout :: pushed hard

Well I’m pushing hard leading up to my marathon and trip to Florida. I did one hell of a workout today and got it done early which was nice because the gym wasn’t packed yet. Did chest (decline and incline press and pec dec), back (wide grip chins and seated rows), shoulders (press, rear delt machine, lateral raises), abs (leg raises, weighted reverse crunch, crunches) and arms (tricep machine, dips and dumbell curls). After the workout a nice booster juice and then headed to running room for a pair of running shorts for the run and finished it off with a haircut. Leaving Friday!

Wii :: Drinks and Wii

Nothing like a group of adults playing kids games. Wii know how to have fun. Oh that was bad! Anyhow Kevin and I had an absolute blast playing the the wii.

Running Log :: Taper and a sore foot

Well I’m in the taper and really wasn’t sure if I was going to meet my 12 mile obligation and WOOHOO I did it. Didn’t run super fast but got through it and don’t feel so bad. Did the run inside on the treadmill, to be sure that I don’t injure it more and incase something goes wrong I don’t have to try and get home from far out. Anyhow I did the 12 mile run in 1:48:45 for an average pace of 9:03 minute miles. Foot was a bit sore but nothing that would worry me to much at this point. I’m finishing week one of the taper and the running is just going to go down from here.

Workout :: just the workout…

Well no cardio today. Need to rest the foot for the long run tomorrow. So today intense workout, after Robin’s gawking at Jason Statham in Transporter 3 I need to reintroduce the wide grip chins hahaha. Anyhow did a great workout and really worked up a sweat and felt the heart pounding during the leg raises/dips superset. Did Chest (decline/ incline press and Pec Dec), Back (wide grip chins and seated rows), shoulders (shoulder press, rear delt machine and later raise machine), abs (leg raises, weighted reverse crunchs, crunches), triceps (dips and tricep machine), and biceps (dumbell curls and preacher curls). Felt really exhausted after.

Running Log :: 4 miles

Ok I did a 4 mile run today in about 35 minutes which isn’t bad as I was just testing out the foot. I should have been 5 but didn’t want to push my luck. I’ll. have to do my long run on Sunday which is supposed to be 12. I’ll start on treadmill and jump on ellipltical when I feel the fatigue come on (fatigue in the foot that is). After the run I did a workout, chest, arms, back, shoulders and abs. I feel pretty good. Bit of weight put on due to the excessive holiday eating and drinking… Anyhow we’ll see how this goes. Just need to make certain I don’t over due it.

Running Log :: Injury and workout

Well the left foot might be healing up and hopefully I’ll be able to run. Didn’t push it tonight. Did 20 min elliptical and 10 min run at moderate pace. We’ll try tomorrow for 3/4 hour – 50 min and see how I feel on Christmas Day. All depeneding I’ll push for 1:15 for the long taper and decide after that. I have to get down to Florida for the skydiving and the tunnel time anyhow so no matter what I’m starting the marathon out and just see where it goes from there. I got Coral A based on my half time of a few months ago. I’m excited and frustrated at the same time. Did good workout as well, chest, back, shoulders, arms and abs.

Can’t run :: workout and elliptical

Well the foot is still sore and I don’t want to push my luck so did elliptical training and a good hard workout. Didn’t push the elliptical to hard either, 36 minutes and the foot started to get a bit sore so left it at that. My taper starts this week anyhow so just need to do elliptical for the same length of time that I would be running and I should be fine as long as the foot heals up enough to run it. I did 36 minutes elliptical and did chest, abs, arms, back and shoulders for workout. Great session!

Snow Day :: Journee de neige

Well today was a snow day and the girls didn’t have school. So because I work for the school board my office was also closed. My wife had to work today so I was fortunate enough to draw the short straw “yes that was sarcasm” and entertain the kiddies today. Anyhow today was bake cookies and look after four daughters, two of which are sick. Anyhow then I also had to shovel the drive so when mommy got home from her great day of work and Christmas partying she was able to get into the driveway.
