Well went to run inside at lunch today. Figured I’m going to be working this weekend doing an upgrade for work I might as well take an extra 15 minutes at the gym and get a good run in. I wasn’t sure how the run was going to go today so set the treadmill for one hour and figured I’d decide when to get off based on the legs. Anyhow legs felt great at the beginning, they started to tire but then I got a second wind and just ran the hour out. Cranked up the pace for the last minute so that I could hit the 7 mile mark in that hour. Anyhow was a great run, feeling amazing at the moment. Here are the stats, 7 miles in 59:58 minutes for an average pace of 8:34 minute miles. Anyhow that put me at 50 miles for this month so far, figure I’ll do about another 8-10 before the end of the month. That is getting so much better, considering in may I only did 10 miles. Anyhow just keep building carefully.

Running Log :: Thanks Bev
Well as I was heading out for my run I ran into my neighbour Bev. She was just returning from her run (9km congrats Bev) and had told me she had a great run. Well I was planning on 4-5 miles (around 8km) and well her great run pushed me to have a great run also. Decided to do a 6 mile run. Ran my Stonechurch run between Upper Wellington and Pritchard which is all hills. Anyhow I pushed tonight and did the 6 miles in 48:24 for an average pace of 8:04 minute miles (5 minute kilometer). The run felt great and how the legs will feel tomorrow is anyones guess. I am looking forward to a nice run in Montreal on the 21st of September, I’m not going to be running that one overly fast, I want to enjoy the scenery.
Running Log :: nice morning
Well actually got myself out in the morning for once. I carbo loaded last night if you call pizza and a couple beers carbo loading hahaha. Well there was a difference, be it psychological or not. I had a great run, first hard one in a long time and legs felt great. Did a 4 mile run this morning in 31 minutes, that is an average pace of 7:45 minute miles (4:49 minute kilometers). The morning was amazing, wore a long sleeve technical shirt for the first time, the mornings are cooler now and I love that. The sun was still low and the air was very crisp.
Running Log :: Inside today
Well ran inside today because of the thunder showers. Was a pretty good run, legs were a bit tired of the start but they loosened up well. Didn’t push to hard today. Because I will not be doing any races this winter I’m going to really build up slowly. Also going to try and get my runs up to 5X week like i used to do when my running was at it’s best.
Anyhow for these run statistics, did 4 mile run in 35:18 for an average pace of 8:49 minute miles. Very easy pace, good conversation pace, could have talked had I wanted to. Also as far as my weight goes, I’m sitting at 180lbs now. If I remember correctly I was sitting around 195 when I started picking my pace back up. It sure feels much nicer running at this weight. I’d like to get down another 5-6 lbs for my running comfort. With the running 5X a week that shouldn’t really require to much extra effort nutrition wise.
Oui, tous!!! Alors voici quelques photos de la soirée.
Running Log :: Niagara Parkway
Well ran along the Niagara Parkway in Fort Erie, Ontario. What an amazing run, the best path I have found right along the lake looking at the American Side. Did a 4 mile run amazed at some of the houses and how fresh the air smelt. Ran out a little over 3 miles and turned back walking 2 miles after the 4 mile run. Even at 8am there were quite a few people out already, many people on bicycles. Anyhow enough about how awesome the scenery was, time for the running stats. I did 4 miles in 34:40 for a pace of 8:40 minute miles. Anyhow I’ve decided not to run Disney this year as I’ve spent way to much on Skydiving so I don’t have to push as hard to get my mileage up. Seeing as I won’t be doing Disney I’ll concentrate on the Around the Bay and a spring and fall marathon.
RockBand
Well had company come down from Montreal and Spain. We had quite the time with RockBand. I’ll have to find out how to spell two of the name from Laura so that I can include them in here. Anyhow in the photos are Laura and Marie-Josée and I will get the other two names for you. I’ll also get the ones of me from the other cameras and put them on here also. All the work of the game was to achieve one Beastie Boys tune (bienvenue MJ).
Running Log :: Was a nice little rest
Well I took a little rest to just recover before things get to sore. Felt good tonight for a little three mile run. Had some company on the weekend so just rested and had some drinks and took some time off running. Well got back out there and the legs felt great. Did a 3 mile run in 26:08 for a 8:42 minute mile. Well I ran the three miles out so that I would have a nice long walk home. Took me about 20 minutes to walk home and that was great to help the legs warm down. Anyhow was a beautiful night, would have been nice to have had the camera with me. Looking forward to my next run.
Skydiving Jumpes 16, 17, 18
Ok there is so much to write about todays jumps. First of I downsized today into a 220 Navigator. I figured how much of a difference could this be right? Wow incredible!!! Forward motion with back to wind is FAST (for me anyhow). I’m down to 182 lbs so the wingload on this rig was .97. My first landing was down by the pond. How far is that from target you would ask, well as Scott told me to write in my jump log (TFTM — To Far To Measure). So what about the freefall right? Well I did three backloops and was I spinning fast by the third, who would have thought. Did one front look, that needs work and a 360 turn. Again I think it’s time to maybe go back to the basics for a few jumps to work on turns and just falling gracefully.
Jump number 17 — Nice skydive, two backloops which was much nicer to transition to belly. Oh before I forget all my exits were ride the slide. So two backloops, one front loop, better than jump 16, and two 360’s, left and right. The Landing : BAD, BAD, BAD. Good setup, was 500′ up beside the target and setup was good, then I saw the Plane. Didn’t lern from someone elses mistakes and focused on the plane for a sec and overshot the runway. Now I begin to come back across the runway and that’s stupid to I turn right and land out far in the field far from plane. Got a good talking to from Mike (thanks for being gentle Mike). The whole thing was a bit of an ego beating and was considering calling it a day after filling in the log. Scott advised me you don’t want to go home beat up like that and had better do another one.
Jump 18 — Well another good skydive, nice sitfly exit (ride the slide). Two backloops again, good control, one frontloop (need work) and some 360’s — work on them too. Anyhow yes you are all waiting for “so how was the landing”. Not as bad as first but still TFTM and didn’t land into the wind, pushed sideways, didn’t recover and another HARD LANDING. Shoulder and elbow are a bit sore and I’m sure the pain will remind me for next day or two the lessons I got from Mike re: that landing. All in all I’m in a good mood and can say I learn alot from todays jumps and most of all realized 20 Sq Feet is a HUGE difference.
Running Log :: 4 miles at gym
Well decided to get my run in at lunch today because I’ll be running around this evening trying to get everyone ready to go to the cottage tomorrow. They will all be gone and me I’ll be skydiving (BOOYAAA)..
Anyhow did a nice 4 mile run in 35:10 for a pace of 8:47 minute miles. I felt good throught the whole run. Legs are feeling great and it can be difficult to not get cocky and try and push it more. I have to stay focused on the goal, Disney in January. This year I’m going to arrive pain free.
