Running Log Entry

After a layoff day due to sheer lazyness I ran a better 5 mile run than of late. Weather was still quite warm out and didnt’ bring water with me. Ran 5.06 mile in 38:48 averaging pace of 7:40. Long run is going to be Sunday instead of the usual Saturday because of the missed day. Try for my 18 mile run tomorrow. Shins been a bit sore but nothing major, lots of ice today and advils, always seems to do the trick. Changed my gate a bit yesterday, put more of a lean into the stride. Found I increased my pace with little extra effort. Could be why my time in the Niagara Half was a PB. Replayed the run in my head trying to figure out why I ran so much better and realized for a great portion of the run I was in a chasing position, leaning more into my run. Will i nvestigate this more over the next few weeks. Will start speed training next week as well and that will also help me investigate styles.

Was a very hot night for run 23C (29C with humidex) and extremely humid, hence the humidex report. Ran 5 mile run in 42:03 for an 8:25 min mile. Kept the pace slow due to heat and recovery from the half marathon on the weekend.

Running half marathon this weekend

I will be running the Niagara 50 km and Half Marathon (myself running the Half Marathon) in Niagara on the Lake. This is last minute run. I had to do minimum 18 mile run either way so figured do a 13.1 mile one instead. Looking forward to it. If you want to know more about it check out http://ouser.org/races/niag.htm I’ll post my time after the race.

Very sore legs today. Ran 8 mile run, worried about shin splints, legs were very tired. 1:06:19 giving pace 8:17 minute mile. Must have been because of the speed workout yesterday. Take a nice run tomorrow and save myself for weekend long run.

Running Log Entry

Ran a good 5 mile run as far as pace goes. Pushed the pace a bit as I’m also trying to work on my speed. Ran it in 37:50 maintaining  a 7:35 per mile pace. Legs were a bit tired but felt good. Need to work on the breathing and form when fatigue sets in. Many more speed workouts to go and need to get that pace down quite a bit to qualify for Boston before I’m 40¼/p>
